Vermont

Vermont has the very best state-themed quarter.  It’s a lonely figure gathering syrup, I think.  Either that or it could be a drummer in the colonial army hanging drums on various trees.  But it looks so sad.  It really captures what it means to be alive.  You are sad, but you are always in the mood for some syrup.  Thank you Vermont.  Thanks for not putting your state bird on your quarter.

  1. Also it has the great Camel’s Hump Mountain in the Background. Many people don’t realise that early America relied on maple syrup for most of its sweetening. That syrup came from none other than Vermont.

  2. I am so proud of mr. unstoppable, who managed to post an actual image, when our other authors have trouble with links. Good work.

I have always enjoyed Rhode Island’s quarter, with its elegant sailboat. Florida’s may be my favorite, celebrating exploration with both a tall ship and the space shuttle on it.

    Nominees for the lamest are:
Texas – ooh boy, look, its Texas. And a star.
Georgia – ooh boy, look, its Georgia. And a peach.

  3. I kinda like Maine’s quarter, which includes a pleasant looking lighthouse, a rocky shore, and a ship about to crash on said rocks despite the lighthouse’s best efforts to warn it away.

I always felt Tennessee’s was lame: it has a guitar, a violin, sheet music, and a trumpet. I guess they like music in Tennessee. . . or at least musical instruments.

As for my home state, it looks like Washington’s going extra lame; the governor picked a salmon jumping out of a lake in front of Mount Ranier.

I personally liked the design that had the orca on it.

  4. I am also pro-orca. And anti-Texas. What a waste. It should have had Tom Landry on it.

  5. Tom Landry would have rocked. Also, he’s probably the best thing Texas had to offer.

Thanks for including the pics . . . I have no idea how this internet thing works.

  6. Well at least they are different – all British coins have the Queen’s head on them. Although they do have different designs on the other side, depending on the coin
