In an article in the Sun-Herald about the Saints kicker situation and Mare’s groin injury that is supposedly keeping him from making field goals, Olindo F. Mare said:
“I’m not worried about anybody taking my job as far as when I’m healthy,” Mare said.
Then Mare alluded to Tony Romo’s five interceptions and lost fumble when the Dallas Cowboys played at Buffalo on Monday night.
“You can’t base it on one game or Dallas wouldn’t have a quarterback.”
Yeah, but the difference is, Dallas won.
Let it go. Kicker is like 15 on the Saints list of problems.
Yes, but it is an identifiable problem with an easy solution. Why not fix it? Then we have 14 problems instead of 15.
If reggie had a more powerful front line that could clear a path for him, reggie could run over the competition. BK, how is reggie supposed to run vertically when hes got to get around his line to get any forward progress.
btw, i agree with kent, if there’s a problem they can fix easy… do it. wtf are they waiting for?
also, colston is not living up to last years play. probably because people are ready for him now.
It’s hard to run forward when you are trying to break 50 yard runs to the outside everytime you touch the ball.
Watch him run. Nine times out of ten, he will pass up a sure 3 yards, because he wants to create a 20 yard run with his moves. Usually this results in a 2 yard loss. Sometimes you just have to take the 3 yards.
I’m not sure the offensive line is that bad. But they are being screwed over by two things. 1) They are forced to pass block a lot. It’s always been my understanding that OL’s would rather run block. 2) When they do run block they have a running back who does not run vertically. They lose either way. This is not to say that they are doing a great job, but they are fighting a losing battle. We have a good offensive line, but I just don’t think they are given the chance to blow people off the ball. That’s something you have to do throughout the game, whether you are getting rushing yards in chunks or not. Otherwise you become one dimensional and you Blah blah blah more football stuff I know.
Colston is doing just fine. Him, Eric Johnson, and Reggie are the bright spots in terms of receiving. i don’t see how the oline can be worse than they were last year. they are exactly the same. perhaps they played above their ability last year. i wouldn’t have said that about our offense last year, i would about our linebackers, though. they looked legit to me.
the thing i don’t get about reggie is that he seems to have forgotten the lessons he learned in the last half of last year, and looks like a rookie again. maybe its desperation because we fall behind too early. I also believe that Brees’ poor throws are also because of that desperation. You remember last year, and you think, I can do this, I was awesome last year, and you make bad decisions.
Speaking of what’s wrong with the Saints:

I particularly like the Hollis Thomas and Devery Henderson ones.
