Of course, it was invented by a bunch of British people.

Cohen Live
Leonard Cohen is coming to the UK. This may be my last and only chance to see him live – he doesn’t tour very often, and the guy is 73.
I have no-one to go with. I am the only one in my circle of friends and family who appreciates his music.
I will probably end up going up to London (fair old trip, I’ll have to stay over in a hotel somewhere) on my own.
I’m off to France tomorrow.
I’ll be visiting the site of the US landings at Omaha beach, and this place:
Those whacky Poles
Makes a change for a country other than the UK to be stirring the shite!

When your better half tells you that the snip won’t be that bad and it’s only minor surgery, don’t believe her. Good grief.
The honour of the USA is at stake
This coming weekend, it is the final game of the Piedmont Potato Cannoneers fantasy football league. I, a humble Brit, have advanced to the final, already leaving a trail of US citizens – born and raised on “football” – in my wake. The sport of American Football is not generally recognised over here. My opponent for this final game is none other than our esteemed host. A man who has all the advantages of being a native to the sport. A man who’s team has been putting up huge points over the last few weeks.
The honour of the USA is in your hands, sir. Make your choices well. How could you lose against me? You have all the advantages.

Speaking of sports…..
Today was Chloe’s school sports day. I took the day off to watch her do the beanbag races, the strange class dance thing, the mini-cricket games and the over/under race.
Then, the Dad’s race.
For the first time ever, I phoned it in. Ran at half speed just to get to the finish without pulling something or falling over.
I suck.
So, suddenly, possibilities are open again
Visa window opened on April 1st.
Whilst we were away, I got an email from a company in Denver I interviewed with last year, but at that time the timing wasn’t right (visa cap screwed me!). They’re interested still in me. I replied yesterday with a “hell yeah” email, pointing out exactly what had to happen visa wise (including costs).
I get a phone call tonight a couple of hours ago – it’s the techie development manager who is now in charge of hiring (wasn’t when I interviewed last year, so I didn’t speak to him). A half hour phone interview ensues.
Next step I hopefully get to speak to the head honcho. And then if all goes well perhaps get to actually start the visa process.
I’m trying not to get to far ahead or excited, because I’ve been screwed by the immigration system for the last 3 years, but……
wow.
Off to experience the magic soon….
In 2 week’s time, we shall be at Disneyland Paris!
I’ll say hello to Mickey for you all.
Haven’t stayed in France for quite a few years – travelled through it a lot, but not stayed in about 15 years I guess. Going to have to dust off my very bad French accent. Still, my limited knowledge of French nouns is enough to impress Chloe 🙂
Six year olds are great. They think their Dad is the cleverest person in the world and can’t be dissuaded from this. I’m enjoying it while it lasts.
