Congrats to the Rams

The St. Louis Rams have hired Jim Haslett as their defensive coordinator. As head coach in New Orleans, Haslett’s defenses sucked real bad, which might be an improvement for the Rams.

On a brighter note, the Saints hired former University of Oklahoma head coach Gary Gibbs as their defensive coordinator. Gibbs followed Sooner legend Barry Switzer at Oklahoma.

  1. The Rams might be a real contender if their defense only sucks real bad. For several years, they’ve been the Oreck vacuums of the NFL . . . which since they’re hiring Haslett is fitting, since Oreck’s also from New Orleans.

  2. But that might confuse opposing defenses. They might not know what to do. That’s not very nice.

  3. Gibbs is a chump too. He’s skipped around ever since the OU stint (where he was eventually run out of town). He’s been a defensive coordinator at Georgia and LSU, and in both cases the defense has gotten better after he left.

  4. He did improve the Cowboys’ linebackers. I want to get my hopes up real high so they can be smashed again next season. It’s part of the joy of being a Saints fan.
