For awhile, a bunch of us have been talking about going out and getting tattoos to commemorate our experiences with Katrina, Rita, and New Orleans this September (and continuing). Here’s my favorites so far:
I’ve put up a flickr page with a whole mess of different types. There’s lots of variations on the theme here. Check them out and let us know what you think.
No. 1 is the best, hands down.
Kelsey and Shane gave me a beautiful fleur de lis pin that I wear proudly. It has nothing to do with commemorating my experiences with Katrina, Rita, and my life now. I would like to forget and erase and delete everything that happened here and is still happening here. The only thing I would like to commemorate is the kindness I experienced during all of this. I think I would get a tatoo of the state of Texas with DavidRay underneath it and maybe add a heart.
PS I like #2.
I like the sixth one on the flicker page, the one with the pointy top. When are you going to get these? I, too, have wanted a Texas tattoo for a long time Marnie. Isn’t that funny! Who’s DavidRay?
We can go together, Amber. David is my cousin who was my life support in Texas. He brought me back to New Orleans two weeks after the storm. We are “daquarita” buddies. David’s mom always called us by our whole names so David Ray came out very fast as one word.
I’m with dave. the first is the best. can we all agree we get them on our forearms?
Outside forearm like Popeye, or inside forearm?
no.
Inside forearm. No question.
