Here’s the inside.
These are the CT scans of the inside of my head showing how screwed up my nose is. I will be getting surgery to repair my physical defects, and then I will look like George Clooney.
First, here’s a scan of a slice of my head from pretty close to the outside of my face. You can see the little line going through my head in the bottom right to show you where exactly this slice is in my skull:
The yellow arrow points to where Kent’s septum is. The red line is where George Clooney’s is located.
And here is one from deep inside my head, where you can see my awesome bone spur.
That circle part is a bone spur that reaches across the naval cavity to the other side. It turns out that that can cause problems like not being able to breathe, which can be a big problem in the long run. The good news is my sinus cavities are healthy, since they are big and black, like they are supposed to be.
So, the are going to stick knives up my nose and scrape out the bone spur and straighten out the septum. I don’t know exactly how, I stopped the doctor before he went into too many gory details. Fun. But worth it for a huge George Clooney fan like me.
Kent’s mother made the suggestion of George Clooney. He was going for Brad Pitt….Oh PLEASE!!!!
I guess you (and Grant) can blame my genes for your septum’s condition. I had the same procedure done when we lived in Florida. It seemed as though breathing while and especially after, diving was more difficult than it should have been. And afterwards it was a lot better. But be prepared for the miles of stuffing they jam up there. It was astounding watching it all come out. Yuck! Good luck. How soon will you go thru it?
The doctor said that there has never been any evidence that a deviated septum is genetic. It’s just really common, so it often looks genetic.
It can be caused by past nose trauma (such as breaking your nose on someone’s knee while jumping in a Jupiter Jump) or by the septum growing too fast for the nasal cavity.
Jack is off the hook! (In more ways than one).
Hello? Tell me more.
🙁
When are you getting it done? Good luck with it. Being able to breathe is somewhat important I guess.
Being able to breathe is over-rated when you compare it to having a knife shoved up your nose.
