So driving back to Atlanta from New Orleans, I hear that My Morning Jacket is coming to Atlanta in November. Cool, I think, I like their album Z. Dave asks if he will like them. No, I resoundly respond.
So I check ticket prices. $25 a piece. What the heck? For Sufjan Stevens, sure. But My Morning Jacket? Maybe they are more popular than I thought. The Decemberists are only $20. And I know they are more popular. Unfortunately, I will be out of town for the Decemberists show. Stupid library conference…
If it was just me, I would lay down the $25 and go. But I don’t want to go by myself, and convincing someone to shell out $25 to see “Kent’s boring crap music” is really hard to do.
I have a jacket you can borrow Kent, so’s you don’t have to spend so much money.
I have seen them live, and it’s not that great. They are very jammy, but he’s got a good voice. My brother calls it “pure.” He is gayer than Paul.
They do have a new live CD. Maybe you should just buy that.
I’ll just go see Sunset Rubdown tomorrow instead, I think.
I’m disappointed you didn’t bring any music to listen to on the ride to the stupid library conference; I like listening to other people’s music. However, that means that I could probably still be talked into live music at some point not being acquainted with “Kent’s boring crap music,” which might make the prospect more appealing for others?!
