Learning Taxidermy as a Profession
Taxidermy schools offer full-time courses with both classtime and lab work. A complete curriculum can run from six-weeks to several semesters, depending on the insititution. They offer diplomas or certificates upon completion.

Like any profession, the field of taxidermy has journals to help professional taxidermists keep up with the latest developments in materials and techniques.
- Breakthrough Magazine
- "The Magazine Devoted to the Serious Wildlife Artist." Breakthrough Magazine is a taxidermy trade journal, featuring technique articles, wildlife reference, and related wildlife art subjects, such as fish carving. It offers taxidermists access to wildlife reference books, video tapes, and information to learn taxidermy. It has the largest circulation of any taxidermy trade periodical.
- Taxidermy Today Magazine
- "The World's Foremost Taxidermy Magazine." Taxidermy Today is published six times a year, featuring step-by-step articles showing taxidermy procedures for mammals, birds, fish and gameheads, as well as freeze-dry information. Also included is the TTM Jr. page which is geared towards children.
- Outlook Magazine
- The official publication of the National Taxidermists Asociation. Included is information on what is currently happening in the taxidermy industry, articles, a listing of all affiliated associations, a calendar of events, and other useful items to help keep anyone interested in taxidermy up to date.

- North American Taxidermy News is a unique publication that focuses on taxidermy association news and convention coverage.
